MIU MIU'S ENTRANCING SS'13 CAMPAIGN

It’s campaign season again, that phenomenal time when each brand is able to translate their current season’s runway outings into artful, almost editorial-esque images that capture the collection’s plenary essence. The SS’13 Miu Miu campaign lensed by Inez and Vinoodh captured perfectly Miuccia’s vision of the Miu Miu woman: a contemporary sartorial savant who embraces all the tropes of both modern and classic femininity with insouciance. To evoke all these facets of a woman’s personality the campaign features a vibrant cast of models (Martha Hunt, Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, Tamara Weijenberg, Malgiosa Bela, Arizona Muse, and Bette Franke). Set in a mysterious domestic environment of bleached wood and ruby red satin mirroring, the erasure of time and place is achieved through a theatrical “mise-en-scene” that shifts from intimate closeness to voyeuristic wonderment. This artful play on dualities coupled with the models’ mastery of diverse emotional expressions lends itself to be the perfect arena to highlight Miuccia’s sublime collection. Combinations like oversized inky denim outerwear with leather opera gloves or crushed and crinkled duchess satin dresses accessorized with tie-dyed fox fur stoles (for Spring!) left us lusting for sartorial nonchalance at once thought unimaginable. And isn’t that the intendment of any quintessential campaign?
