MARC JACOBS SAYS GOODBYE TO LOUIS VUITTON

Marc Jacobs “goodbye song” to Louis Vuitton was an extravagant experience meant to celebrate the “showgirl in all of us,” and boy did it. Even the models were in mourning for the end of this exciting and definitive era of the brand; the all-black show was complimented by extravagant headpieces and textured embellishments (think beading, feathers and tassels) on loose 90s denim, sheer lace and rich leather. The monotone color palette hinted at the epitome of the modern New York or Parisian woman: a collection not only feminine but hard, oversized but flattering, contemporary but vintage. Jacobs contrasted oversized menswear proportions with elegant, flirty dresses. Accessories were practical and utilitarian and could be easily translated into everyday life. Many of the looks featured fresh takes on exposed midriffs while also providing the more conservative girl with ways to incorporate sheer items into her wardrobe.
