Lana Del Rey's "Tropico" out now

As if Lana Del Rey had not provided us with enough creative material for the next decade, she last night premiered her new short film ”Tropico”. Together with up-and-coming albino model Shaun Ross, they captured the meanings of Del Rey’s songs and created a magnificent piece of visual art.
The short film was a tribute to her tracks ”Body Electric”, ”Gods and Monsters” and ”Bel Air”, and were all set in fitting stories for the songs.
In ”Body Electric”, the scene is set in the Garden of Eden where they both die, making a perfect transition to the next scene, after eating from the iconic poisoned apple as Adam and Eve. From there the movie takes us through time to the modern-day gangster themed Los Angeles in ”Gods and Monsters”, before it ends with ”Bel Air” in a very picturesque, sunset California country landscape. With glimpses of Lana Del Rey as Virgin Mary in between the scenes, the entire short film simply screams of classic Lana Del Rey style.
The 27-minute video was directed by Anthony Mandler, with whom Lana also worked with for her music videos ”Ride” and ”National Anthem”. Mandler is known for his unexpected and iconic, cinematic approach to music videos and there is definitely a reason that superstars repeatedly return to collaborate with Mandler for their visual works.
We are thrilled that Lana finally gave us some more culture to enjoy, and we encourage all of our beautiful readers to take a look at this masterpiece.
