“Anemones are the most ephemeral flowers, here made permanent in cloth. The women wearing the anemone dresses almost become like flowers, like their embodiment, their character – but amplified, grounded, radiant and strong.” – Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen Creative Director, Autumn/Winter 2021 collection.
For TWELV’s latest fashion story, the style team shares a punk and rock-and-roll theme that celebrates the vitality of the McQUEEN’s Autumn/Winter 21 collection. Models Irina Kravchenko and Lizette Pinto hit the streets with photographer CHAMA capturing vital urban culture in a rapidly changing world, where a little glam meets a little grunge striking a balance between edginess and sensuality. Like an anthem for the freedom to be who you are, create what you want and rebel against uncertain times; hard meets soft with these signature McQUEEN looks. The label is amplified on our cover shot featuring the graffiti inspired motif scrawled leather shoulder bag with chain strap and signature skull jewelry. Defiant intimacy struts the crosswalks as Irina models a white billowing skirt floating underneath a cinched peplum waist black leather jacket with heavy metal embellishments. Model Lizette profiles the classic little black dress in a longer length silhouette cut with modern edges like leather trim and industrial zippers while clutching the black Short Story bag. Juvenile disruption defines the profile in McQueen bubble gum Pink Graffiti sunglasses, earrings and metal trimmed white tank top. Softness shines through in eye-catching contrast with faded pastel petals of the anemone painted on an oversized crew neck T-shirt and voluminous polyfaille skirt styled with combat boots and molted leather belt. The models also bring laid back glamour to sculpted raw edged denim skirts in midi lengths, puffed sleeved jackets and even a black leather trimmed denim Curve Bucket Bag. Like an after hour post-club snapshot, youth spirit lives on between the clubs, on the streets and in fashion demonstrating that like the ephemeral anemone, trends shift but the passion for individuality in body and soul lives on.
