Life is complicated, harsh, intense and yet empowering. Sometimes one needs to take a moment in time and see the beauty of the simplicities. TWELV shows us this with this shoot by photographer Chama of model Marija Zezelj. Model Marija has the perfect innocent yet striking look for this concept to run free and truly be captured.
The concept of taking the day to play with your nostalgia is explored; when was life at its most simple? Childhood. The shoot ventures into the simple indulgence of spending a day at the park. With the first look seeing Marija in a fleeting and freeing skirt by Sacai and the most perfect of all stand out chunky boots by Pierre Hardy accompanied with the glimpse of a lace frilled sock. Marija styled in a uniform look that has me wishing my school uniform was as iconic, with a check coat and short set by Sacai, perfectly flowing in the wind of the eerily empty park basketball court. The sleek black and white images are suddenly juxta positioned with a fleeting set of colours. See Marija; beautiful with hair slicked back in a skirt adorned with splatters of colour paired by stylist Hissa Igrashi with an iconic jersey giving you a blast of memories of the school sports team outfits you once idolised. The shoot also takes model Marija inside to a simple, minimalist background of a stool and block colour. She sits giving the camera the perfect smouldering eye contact while fitted in Tripp NYC bodysuit and a ruffled neck piece.
This latest fashion story by TWELV allows us to remember what it is like to let simplicity back into our lives and feel the beauty and pleasure in it.
