René Caovilla S/S2018 CAMPAIGN
Delicate heels and grainy denim may not make an obvious combination, but stylist Viviana Volpicella uses the classic fabric as a clean backdrop to the scintillating shoes in René Caovilla’s Spring/Summer 2018 Campaign, lensed by photographer Giampaolo Sgura. Marked with the legacy of luxury Venetian footwear, the cult celebrity brand invokes playfulness and simplicity through a black and white campaign featuring Guilia Maenza grinning and gliding. The effortlessness of light wash overalls matches the ease of slipping on bejeweled leather slides just as the bohemian spirt of wide-leg jeans and flat leather thongs go hand-in-hand. Denim-on-denim makes a sharp suit fit for pointed black leather mules adorned with pearl and bead décor.
Though black suede was characteristic of the heels and boots in the brand’s recent Fall/Winter collection, Caovilla ditches the autumnal heaviness by focusing on a neutral color palette and iridescent rhinestones, pearls, and satin for spring. This time, their signature Snake sandal features a chunky two-inch heel and micro crystals coiling up the ankles. Volpicella paired them with cropped jeans, choosing to keep the whole length of the leg bare for flower adorned T-Bar sandals and high-tied ribbon flats. Who needs to be fully dressed when your shoes cover all creative grounds?
