Unveiled earlier this month, Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2017-2018 campaign continues to impress as the brand remains true to it’s doctrine– the “Art of Travel”– but not without a Ghesquière-twist of futurism and a pointed, celebrity-laden cast. Bruce Weber captures a myriad of familiar faces in the advertising campaign titled "Series 7." One of the house’s recent favorites, Jaden Smith, was shot alongside Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner, as the duo easily played into the subtly futuristic, superhero-like image of the collection. The rest of the cast was comprised of French actress Catherine Deneuve, actress Riley Keough and a team Nicolas Ghesquière’s frequented models.
Structured pleated skirts and stiffly flared pants sit atop black patent Chelsea boots presented in a new age silhouette. Playful and extravagant clutches are front-and-center amidst the campaign’s pristine industrial setting– what appears to be a race car garage– and its frequent intersecting geometries and rigid lines.
The scene behind the camera appears to have been as remarkable an experience as the outcome of the images. Jaden Smith commended the talent behind the lens, commenting that “Working with Bruce Weber was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Standing in front of a legend and learning from him was both an educational and spiritual experience for a young artist like myself.”
“The collection of Nicolas Ghesquière is always something that everybody expects and waits for because he is radical in his views and it’s very important for a lot of people. His creations feel wonderful. He is a special person,” lauded Deneuve. A number of others in the cast offered remarks of praise surrounding the experience, and it’s not hard for us to believe.
