During our Issue 2 photo shoot with photographer Giovanni Zaccagnini and fashion model Saskia de Brauw, we had the opportunity to film some backstage video of her and a handful of the brave women whom she helps with her Fashion Fights Cancer (FFC) organization. FFC's mission is to nurture the minds, bodies, and souls of cancer patients through it's Cancer Survivor Program, which offers free therapeutic workshops and seminars to cancer patients and survivors. The program incorporates a variety of hands-on activities in fashion and design related disciplines to act as soothing stress reduction therapy. Numerous studies show that such activities reduce the suffering and anxiety for participants. The organization is galvanizing support of the New York and international fashion communities to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and therapeutic programs. FFC has attracted critically-acclaimed designers such as Carmen Marc Valvo, Tracy Reese, Byron Lars, Monique Péan, Herve Leger, Kristi Vosbeck, Joy Cioci and others to donate their time and/or resources to help further the cause. Fashion Fights Cancer sells products on their website including a necklace by Pamela Love and tote bag by Tracy Reese, all proceeds of which are donated to the organization. TWELV Magazine is proud to support Saskia de Brauw and Fashion Fights Cancer and to assist in achieving their noble goals.
