IKEMEN #3: Ekaterina Murphy
IKEMEN (ē´k´mɛn): Japanese Slang
"REALLY, REALLY, RIDICULOUSLY GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE"
Name: Ekaterina Murphy
Profession: Assistant Designer
Origin: Born in Russia, grew up in Sweden
Your passions:
art, fabrics, food, bargain shopping for unique pieces, languages, cultures
If I weren’t me, I would be:
I would love to turn back time and wake up as a glamorous lady in the 1920's. Wearing beaded handbags, purses and accessories in stunning colors and patterns. Making my own jewelry on the side sitting on my stunning Parisian balcony with a beautiful Eiffel Tower view
Best trait about yourself, physically and mentally:
I like my lips! They're exactly the right size. My favorite personality trait of mine is probably my adaptability to new places and people. I've been traveling a lot and lived in 6 different countries over the last 10 years so I am pretty good at adapting
First thing in the morning:
COFFEE!!! And a cold shower to wake up
Mealtime ritual:
I am training a lot so I eat a very lean and protein rich diet. Small meals 6 times a day
Something you´d never do or give for money:
I would never participate in a money game show like Fear Factor or reality TV like Big Brother. I don't get people who do this
Have you experienced unrequited love, and what did you do about it:
I was 16 and madly in love and suffering for years not understanding why he didn't love me back. After seeing this person a couple of times, not really knowing who he was but having an idea of who you wanted him to be. Teenage love is always bitter sweet and dreamy and when you grow up you laugh at how long you spent crying and being a full-time daydreamer
Dream date:
Something different and adventurous and random. I love the unexpected! Something totally outrageous like a last minute flight to the other side of the world for the day. That's probably why I married my husband. He is so unexpected, before we moved to NYC we would see each other in a different country every mont
Favorite designer:
I can't choose one. I appreciate the hard work, art and thought behind the work. I love fashion designers who leave me wondering what the story behind the collection is. Some of my most loved ones are: Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Philip Lim, Helmut Lang, Chanel oh dear the list can go on and on... But I really appreciate the work of these designers above. I love the mix of timeless pieces with something new and fresh
Favorite musician:
Same here, I can't choose. I get so oored with music very easily. One day I'm into indie pop, the next day I love jazz mixed with electro. And tomorrow I just want to listen to old school hip-hop mixed with 90's tracks. Music is too big of a topic for me to be satisfied with just one musician or style
Favorite restaurant in NYC:
I love food, I only lived in NYC for 2 years so I haven't tried them all. How is that even possible? So many options. Some of my favorite ones are: Fig&Olive, French Roast, Cipriani's, Pastis, Shake Shack, Essex, Bagatelle, Tipsy Parson, Magnolia Bakery

Futura came up in the grimy, visceral environment of New York City’s early 1970’s street culture of tagging, bombing and writing graffiti – making their art not in the city, but on top of it.
