"REALLY, REALLY, RIDICULOUSLY GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE"
Name: LANDON MILLER
Occupation: PUBLICIST AND SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR @WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND,STYLIST + CREATIVE CONSULTANT
Fashion Goggled is a Brooklyn-based fashion blog featuring the musings, travels and personal style of Landon McGregor. With a dedication to vintage clothing and analog photography, Fashion Goggled fuses inspiration from days past with a modern, editorial eye for styling that is truly one-of-a-kind.
Atlanta born and raised, I now call Brooklyn home. I devour fashion photography + runway shows and can't help but dream in polaroids + vintage. I'm a stylist + creative consultant, as well as a social media director + publicist for vintage mecca, What Goes Around Comes Around.
1. What brings you to NY?
Finishing my Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Tech, I already knew I had to work in fashion. A few weeks after I graduated, I just bought a one-way ticket. A job came after.
2. Where is your favorite place in NY?
I gotta say my apartment. I have a really lovely space in Williamsburg. I can't say no to a rooftop or backyard either.
3. When did you start working for What Goes Around Comes Around? How come?
I started working here about a year ago. I've always wanted to work in vintage, but not that many vintage companies have the bandwidth for an in-house publicist and social media director. I had obviously been aware of the brand for years and was beyond thrilled when I landed that interview.
4. What do you think of the store’s name What Goes Around Comes Around?
It's our name and mantra and I think that's pretty perfect.
5. What is the best part of your current job?
I get the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most talented people in New York as well as touch and see some of the most incredible vintage pieces on the planet.
6. Tell us about your past working experience.
I worked at a pr agency, Bollare, for about 2 years before WGACA. Before that I learned the ropes at Alternative Apparel, Coach and assisting the blogger, The Glamourai.
7. What is your greatest professional achievement?
I don't know about achievement, but working with Jean Paul Gaultier on my first day at WGACA was pretty mind blowing.
8. What are your career goals?
In 30 years I want to have done it all and be happy.
9. What did you learn from your job?
I've learned so much at WGACA, but I would say the clothing history I am learning here everyday is the most fascinating part of working in a vintage store
10. What if there is no social media in your life? How would you express yourself?
Similar to now really, I love a lot of analog mediums, so I would still be working with film and polaroids. I would probably be trying to make some sort of lo-fi 'zine i suppose.
11. What does vintage clothing mean to you?
It is their imperfections that perfect them and that's kind of spectacular.
12. What inspires your styling?
A life long collection of references, half of which I can't tell you anything about in terms of model, publications/outlet, i just remember the photo. I usually end up thinking the shoot was about one thing until I find the image again and realize that was just my take. That's why reference points are so interesting, the same image isn't really the same reference for 2 different people.
13. What do you like to do outside of work?
A lot of my friends are in creative fields and I really love collaborating with them or supporting them in any way possible. I also love to dig through thrift stores, especially when I am out of town.
14. What are you most proud of?
I'm proud of my blog, Fashion Goggled. It's been my side dish for a few years now, but with the help of some amazing friends, mainly my photographer, Madeleine Kathleen, I have been able to produce some amazing photo content that I am really proud of and happy to continue working on it.
15. What are your lifelong dreams?
To be as happy as possible.
16. What is your greatest fear?
Letting fear affect me
17. What five words would describe you?
Sweet, sincere, outrageous, wild, hedonistic
18. What are your hobbies?
I spend a lot of time floating around Brooklyn. Thrifting, taking photos, making dinner with my friends.
19. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Healthy and wealthy, happy and in love
