KATSUYA KAMO is the legendary Japanese artists who creates the revolutionary hair and makeup designs in his very own style. Surrealistic hair and make up designs has been entertaining the world. Stay tuned with KATSUYA KAMO’s artistic world.
1. Where is your favorite place in NY?
KK: Lower east side.
2. Do you like NY? Which part do you like?
KK: I like it because NY has a lot of talented people.
3. What is the best part of your current job?
KK: Collaborating with new people.
4. Do you feel any difference of expressiveness between Tokyo and other countries?
KK: It's the same.
5. What did you learn from your job?
KK: Balance.
6. Where is your inspiration from?
KK: Daily life.
7. Do you have any turning point in your life?
KK: Met Rei Kawakubo, Karl Lagerfeld, and Junya Watanabe.
8. What was your dream when you were kids?
KK: Architect.
9. How did you come up with your new ideas of hair make?
KK: I have no idea. I'm always bringing a lot of things to the studio, but I never think it through to the end -- only the starting point. Deep thinking lasts minutes. I've never thought about it too much.
10. What do you enjoy doing on your days off?
KK: I don't relax - I make art boxes at my house.
11. Do you have a favorite designer?
KK: No.
12. What are you most proud of?
KK: Myself.
13. What are your lifelong dreams?
KK: I want to make a new form of hair designers.
14. What five words would describe you?
KK: Simple. Strong. Cute. Beauty. Not sexy.
15. Who do you admire most? Why?
KK: People that make money.
16. What are your hobbies?
KK: Stay with my daughter.
17. What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
KK: My strength is Japanese, and my weakness is Japanese.
