Lisa Loeb is a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter who was the first unsigned artist to have a number one platinum-selling single, her hit “Stay (I missed you),” without a recording contract.
SAINT LAURENT MUSIC PROJECT
For decades music and fashion has been closely intertwined. But the SAINT LAURENT MUSIC PROJECT is bringing the two worlds even closer. Creative director of the French fashion house, HEDI SLIMANE, launched the project in 2013 by creating campaigns of rockstars styling themselves in iconic and permanent pieces of the SAINT LAURNET Collection.
CHRISTOPHER OWENS photographed by SLIMANE was the first artist to be featured in the project since he was the face of Saint Laurent’s relaunch in 2013.
Following OWENS, SAINT LAURENT featured BECK in the Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign. SLIMANE then photographed COURTNEY LOVE in her New York townhouse earlier this year. KIM GORDON, who was shot in SAINT LAURENT’s New York photo studio, was next in line for the project. SLIMANE also included MARILYN MANSON and LO1 into his iconic campaign.
But the project isn’t just about taking cool black and white photos of rock stars. These musicians are also actually making original soundtracks exclusively for SAINT LAURENT shows. Artists that have contributed to the brand thus far include DAFT PUNK, TY SEGALL, and the THEE OH SEES in the women’s winter’ 14 show.
Undoubtedly, SAINT LAURENT’s tradition of dressing rock stars will continue due to SLIMANE’s Music Project. We’re waiting to see who will be the next face of the campaign.
