Daniela Brooker gives us more than Body Language with her new single

October 31, 2018 6:00 PM

Half-Venezuelan and half-British 24-year-old singer, Daniela Brooker (aka BROOKER), proves she is the epitome of soul food in her quick interview with TWELV.

Check out her new single BODY LANGUAGE before releasing on Friday, November 2nd!

----------DANIELA BROOKER INTERVIEW----------

1. Your single Mariposas just hit 3.5 million views on YouTube and strikes a cord with most of your listeners. Who was your inspiration for this sentimental song?

Daniela Brooker: Mariposas is about someone I knew back in Venezuela where I used to spend every summer growing up. Mariposas means butteries in Spanish and it’s about that feeling you get in your stomach when you think of someone special!

2. What was it like growing up in London with a mixed background?

DB: It was amazing. I was exposed to all different kinds of music and people. The city gave me experiences that I write about in all my songs!

3. What time of the day do you get the most inspiration for your music?

DB: It all depends what I am writing about. If it’s a sexy or sad song normally late at night but usually I can be inspired at any time.

4. What was one of the most difficult things for you to learn in the music industry?

DB: Being heard is the hardest thing and speaking up for what I believe in. Sometimes I can be in a room with a lot of people that are very experienced and you can feel shy to express your true opinion. I have learnt to speak up now though!

5. What genre of music do you most generally classify your music with?

DB: I would say it’s RnB but with influences from  different genres. Being in both English and Spanish gives it its own flavor.

6. Do you prefer to sing in Spanish or English?

DB: I like to sing in both but I have to admit that singing in Spanish has become very special to me because I only started writing music in Spanish this year so it’s still fresh and exciting. I grew up mainly listening to music in English so the way I write is heavily inspired by English melodies but doing it in Spanish with that feel has made it fun for me.

7. What do you hope people can take from your music?

DB: I hope they hear sincerity in all my music. From my ballads to my more pop songs. I really try and be honest and always write about something that means a lot to me or a memory/moment in time! I just want people to get lost in the music for those 3 minutes and feel good!

8.Where do you hope to be in 10 years?

DB: I hope to be putting out my 10th record and constantly touring and being able to sing for a living through my songs!

9. What is the message behind BODY LAUNGUAGE?

DB: BODY LANGUAGE is a story about falling for someone who comes from a completely different place and background. How even if you speak different language you still can connect through body language.
