The runway is a facade for designers to stage their vision, the strictly choreographed back-and-forth of models shinning a never-ending flow of clothes.
NOBUYOSHI ARAKI SHOOTS FOR BOTTEGA VENETA

Nobuyoshi Araki has become the latest artist to collaborate with Bottega Veneta. The Japanese photographer, known for his raw, bondage inspired images, has foregone the provocative and the taboo for this project, focusing instead on providing edge and pop for the Italian designer’s current collection.
One of the currently released shots features Dutch model Saskia De Brauw and Korean model Sung Jin Park in a Tokyo courtyard propped languidly against washed out, decaying white and blue walls next to an attention-grabbing red chair. While certainly tame in comparison to Araki’s personal work, the shot does display a similar usage of striking mood and color.
Tomas Maier, creative director of Bottega Veneta sang Araki’s praise saying, “More than simply provocative, Araki’s images have a powerful honesty and human poignancy that make them unforgettable.”
This collaboration is the most recent in a series that has featured gifted photographers such as Ryan McGinley, Pieter Hugo, Nan Goldin, Stephen Shore and David Sims.
