Comfort, performance and style are seldom co-habitants when it comes to footwear.
KENTINA NYFW F/W 2020
Welcome to Kento Utsubo’s freak show! Giant teddy Bears, gracious ballerinas and colorful make up, kentina set the bar higher than ever for their second NYFW show. Perhaps, the Japanese Denim brand founded in September 2019 has been growing at a spectacular rate, surpassing everyone’s expectation every season and best believe the best is yet to come! Indeed, this F/W 20 NYFW show was only the second show the Japanese Denim brand has ever hosted, yet if you have been following the brand since it’s very beginning, it feels like Kento has been presenting to us something way bigger than just a fashion show, perhaps it is an invitation to immerse into his own anime world. Inspired by the satirical animated story of circus, Kento delivered one of the most stunning and unexpected Freak Show ever presented in NYC. A unique experience that gave everyone a rush of adrenaline as the opening of the show started in the most unique way, with a very special circus. Perhaps, a circus composed of ravishing models and sculpted bodies dressed in bizarre ways and anime inspired make up styles. It was followed by the runaway, where the gigantic enigmatic models walked their walk right in the middle of the crowd showing off their luxurious sustainable streetwear outfits made of sustainable denims and materials that the brand had been collecting for the past previous months preceding the show in order to create emission free outfits. The superior material’s quality, bizarre patchworks and authentic designs, in addition to the incredibly sophisticated make-up and hair styles all created by the very specifically handpicked designers, make-up artists, photographers and other kentina staff were the recipe mix to a successful high fashion streetwear cross-cultural satirical movie like fashion-freak show. The final bow was drawn with a magical appearance of the great Kento Utsubo, who remarkably jumped out of nowhere into the crowd in an elegant anime inspired clown outfit drawing the curtain to this wonderful F/W 20 Fashion Show. As of now, we can only wonder how much higher can Kento raise the bar? Henceforth, the story is to be continued...
