CHRISTIAN SIRIANO NYFW S/S2017 Ready-to-Wear

An appraisal of the designs from Christian Siriano’s spring 2017 show would deem his work otherworldly. Inspired by Settimio Garritano’s photos of Jackie Onassis on vacation in Capri, the collection speaks for an effortlessly chic, well-traveled woman. Perfectly crafted ruffles, chiffon blouses and silk pants combined to present casual sophistication on human forms.

Human forms? Yes, Christian Siriano cast models who resemble women of all types, much like the women all over the world who wear clothes. Kudos to Siriano for being the designer of elegance with an egalitarian flair.

This is why women such as Michelle Obama and Sarah Jessica Parker sport his designs. Not only is the designer behind them a pioneer in runway acceptance, his designs, as Victoria Beckham once put it so quaintly, are “a breath of fresh air.” This comment is echoed constantly by the nods of approval from his front-row revelers like Kelly Osbourne, Coco Rocha and Christina Hendricks.

While the collection, Christian stated, “is perfect for a getaway on the Isle of Capri,” one might add that the casting of natural models is a getaway from the outdated attitude of fashion. Watch as designers follow suit in upcoming runway shows; however, don’t expect them to present a dreamy crepe jumpsuit quite like Christian Siriano.
