On Thursday July 7th, TWELV MAGAZINE held an exclusive cocktail party at Soho’s stunning LADUREE Garden celebrating the TANABATA, a Japanese traditional star festival that celebrates the meeting of the stars Vega and Altair. According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month: July 7th.
Our gorgeous guests, including top South African artist and musician Xander Ferriera, popular models Jacob Morton and twin sisters Kelsey Soles & Baylee Soles, Elle Japan editor Makiko Monji, and trading entrepreneur Susan Chalom, mingled alongside TWELV’s Editor-in-Chief Hissa Igarashi and the evening hosts Paloma Brey and Chloe Caillet whilst enjoying LADUREE’s delicious deserts and Japanese Sake sponsored by SOTO. DJ Keiichiro Nakajima and Travis Bass were busy blasting wonderful music, so that our pretty gals and boys followed the rhythm and danced all night long.
As a traditional for the festival, we had the crowd wrote down their personal wishes on colorful notecards then placed them overhead on strings between trees (some chose to hang on branches instead), which made the beautifully decorated garden even more fascinating. The evening was capped off with an even more private after party at popular downtown nightspot, Happy Ending NYC on Broome Street.
