TWELV HOROSCOPE SS14 #3: BLACK AND WHITE

Black and white proved to have staying power for the spring. Some variation of the timeless combination emerged in almost every collection for the season. Designers transformed the classic duo of black and white for women with lives as contrasting as the hues themselves. Blumarine’s sheer top paired with a printed white pencil skirt felt youthful and fresh. Oscar De La Renta’s variation was timeless, a long jacket with a gingham skirt is both ladylike and modern. Three-dimensional texture gave a twist to the crisp structure of Proenza Schouler’s black and white pieces. Valentino used the shades in tandem in a signature silhouette decorated with gold accessories, providing a break from the otherwise extravagant bohemian inspired spring collection. Don’t let the limited color palate fool you, the options for black and white this spring are boundless.
