Óscar Arístides Renta Fiallo, the world's most legendary American fashion designer who suffused world's wardrobe with his pièce de résistance, flew up to heaven on October 20th. After suffering almost 8 years from cancer, the designer passed away in his Connecticut home at the age of 82. His fashion career began in the 1950s in Spain and adventured to Paris and New York. OSCAR DE LA RENTA innovated woman's high-end day look and evening ensembles by his signature, rich colors of Byzantine skirts and exquisite tapestries. DE LA RENTA's intelligence, spirit, and value for fashion was truly loved by all of de la Renta's fans, from celebrities to world's socialites, for more than four decades. His chic and feminine dress collections have been impressive and worn by many A-list celebrities such as LAURA BUSH, HILLARY CLINTON, PENELOPE CRUZ, SANDRA BULLOCK, and SARAH JESSICA PARKER. Most recently, he designed a wedding dress for AMAL ALAMUDDIN for her wedding with GEORGE CLOONY. In memory of OSCAR DE LA RENTA, an episode of Sex And The City featured him and his wonderful work. In Season 6 of the show — CARRIE BRADSHAW and ALEXANDER PETROVSKY were not meeting their relationship's peak, but a salmon pink Oscar de la Renta cocktail gown was a perfect gift to cheer her up. Since PETROVSKY was a good friend with DE LA RENTA, he succeed to grab her heart! DE LA RENTA's miraculous achievements can been seen not only in fashion, but also in his contribution to charity, especially to beloved his homeland, Dominican Republic. The award-winning designer founded the Casa del Niño orphanage in La Romana and in Punta Cana. His vast contribution of helping improve their educations lead to the awarding of the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella and the Order of Christopher Columbus by the Dominican Republic.OSCAR DE LARENTA was a glorious, cheerful, and brilliant gentleman -- an inimitable designer who had been brightened up the world. We will sincerely miss OSCAR DE LA RENTA. Thank you for all wonderful magics that you created, that all girls could ever wished for!
