The runway is a facade for designers to stage their vision, the strictly choreographed back-and-forth of models shinning a never-ending flow of clothes.
PRADA RESORT 2015 CAMPAIGN

Prada’s 2015 resort ad and video campaign has been released and the results are striking. Shot by fashion photographer Steven Meisel, the video features newcomers Adrienne Juliger, Ine Neefs and Moya Mardy posted eerily still, in black and white, on the grounds of Alder Manor in New York. The manor remains out of focus in the background for most of the video, allowing for a disproportionate sense of depth that adds to the mystery. The camera pans slowly, alternating between close-ups and wide views as an atmospheric and unsettling piano tune, (“Rostro” by Murcof), brings to mind regret and sadness. Each model has a unique gaze: fierce, empty or innocent, adding a layer of detail that helps the viewer understand clearer the mood that Meisel is going for.
The whole campaign has a Shining/Manson Family vibe to it, underscored by the clothes themselves. Heavily patterned pants feature a light flare at the bottom. Emphatic double stitching outlines jacket/pants combinations adorned with large collars or lapels. Browns, beiges, blues and greens play further into the 70’s theme of the pieces.
According to a press release, “Traditional distinctions between male and female codes become passé in new archetypes of dress for the modern woman.” While the collection does exhibit a strong sense of intentional androgyny, it is also quite versatile. Prada has included delicate dresses, light sweaters and feminine work wear, tailored expertly and deliberately.
