It’s safe to say that we are now well into the fall season. The weather has cooled down, the leaves are almost finished tumbling to the ground, and everywhere you look people are adding heavier linens and darker colors to their wardrobe. But in case you’re feeling a little playful, or have grown bored with the basic blacks, reds, and browns of the season, why not try throwing on an eye-catching shade of PINK!
Not only is pink incredibly popular this season, but it’s become available in a number of shades to suit any palette. Choose your hue from barely-there pale rose to a more shocking, in-your-face neon flambé. Paler shades of pink like champagne or cherry blossom suggest femininity and sweetness while daring hot pinks like magenta and red convey confidence and sex appeal.
As cyclical as it is versatile, pink is a color to be used in times of optimism and recovery-perhaps worn as a way to keep the lightness of summer alive during the drab coming of the colder months ahead. Giorgio Armani’s fuchsia and black fur coat, for example makes a bold statement without fading into the background like most fall coats. The elegant, hot pink pantsuit by Kenzo would be a breath of fresh air at any social function as opposed to the usual sea of the season’s darker colors.
Unconvinced? Feeling apprehensive about wearing such a bold color? Well, feel rest assured knowing that you’d be in great company with names like McQueen, Kenzo, and Yamamoto sending their models sauntering down the runway in perfectly pink ensembles. During the fall 2012 season, designers from Ralph Lauren to Bill Gaytten of Christian Dior embraced their own tints and shades of pink, gripping the bravado of the color to meet their own personal taste and style…And that’s what so great about pink.
Whether it’s giving off a soft, sophisticated aura or a shocking and head-turning slap in the face, one can always depend on pink to give the right impression. Why settle for the drab and mundane repetitiveness of traditional fall colors when you can make a splash wearing something a little livelier and a little more fun? It’s time to think pink, people!
