MEOW! THE GREAT GAULTIER AND OUR OTHER FALL2013 COUTURE FAVORITES

It’s that time again; New York Fashion Week is just around the corner. While we are sad to say goodbye to summer, we picked just a few of our favorite not to be missed collections from Fall 2013 Couture to get us prepped and ready, and to inspire our fall wardrobes.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER:
Inspired by the feline, Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2013 collection celebrates the cheetah – her sexy, sly, and sophisticated manner. Mixing this with the edginess of biker jackets, harem pants, and cartoonist art deco curved blazers with pillbox hats. This collection really is the cat’s meow!
CHANEL:
Citing ‘tradition with future’ as his intentions for this season’s collection, Lagerfield transports Chanel while maintaining the fashion houses’ staples. Tweed separates woven with Lurex, silver lame, massive bandage belts, and pointed hats reminiscent of a 1950’s nurses’ cap. I’m not sure what planet this collection is supposed to live, but we want to live there.
MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA:
Latex ‘blue jeans’, bare midriffs, and oversized blazers, Maison Martin Margiela’s Fall 2013 collection is oozing with androgyny, anonymity, and a little art nouveau embroidery. Oh, and face masks. Each mask is unique to the accompanying outfit, and although they should keep the focus on the ability for Margiela to make latex look comfortable and chic, they actually transform the looks into more than just a pair of blue jeans and a midriff.
