With the upcoming holidays upon us, one should look to Marc Jacob’s gift guide for 2020. The overall theme replicates that of the spring summer 2020 runway collection. With a playful and childlike nostalgia running through the entire collection. It sees practicality merge with an artistic flare, bringing in a sense of creative freedom to the wearer with the everyday structural wear; Seen through fabric, splashes of colour, shimmers and embellishment.
Accessories see the shining glory with metallics of silvers and golds as prominent features, oversized straps of exaggeration on the bags. This creates the perfect multi-function with the ability for the wearer to take the bags from day to night. For the extra dose of childish fun and worry-free mentality that we all desire; Marc Jacobs uses Pink bags ornate with tie dye.
Same is seen with the shoes, trainers taken with neon colour prints and kittened sandals in shimmery embellished material; overall allowing all of our fairy tale, princess dreams come true even as an adult. One can’t help but let the mind wander to Dorothy and her sparkly shoes.
Charms and scrunchies are back, and proven by Marc Jacobs themselves, pops of diamante teenage desires, cherry designs juxta positioned with sophistication through use of elegant gold squaring.
There are statement pieces in the accessories, not just an additive to a look like baking soda in a cake. Even the watches see adornment of colour, bringing back the watch as an accessory one wears to style a look not just for practicality. Finally!!
The theme does not end at the accessories, the guide showcases this same sense of perfecting one’s creative desires and memories of freedom throughout the clothing. Magda Archer collaborated with the brand to bring printed graphic tee’s as showcase pieces, imprinted with quirky slogans and teddy bears.
One can also see traditional and minimal wear with black T’s, and dresses with petty collars and frills as a deep juxtaposition and versatility. The pinafore style still keeps this childish.
This gift guide replicates the themes of the runway collection which presented an almost dress up idea. Huge ornate of colour and feathering throughout the collection; with full yellow suiting paired with giant hats giving the viewer and wearer an exaggerated glow.
