JASON WU SPRING ’15 STARRING KARLIE KLOSS
For the fifth and final installment of Jason Wu’s popular and aptly titled “supermodel supper club” ad series, the powerhouse designer has chosen supermodel Karlie Kloss as the featured diner. This season’s gastronomic setting: the Grand Central Oyster Bar in NYC.
Wu began the series in Spring ’13, enlisting Stephanie Seymour to pose at legendary NYC eatery La Grenouille. Since then he’s featured Christy Turlington amid high Chinese cuisine at Mr. Chow, Karen Elson getting frisky for French-Vietnamese at Indochine, and Brazilian bombshell Adriana Lima exploring seasonal delights at the world-renowned Four Seasons.
These locations are not arbitrarily posh, however. In in an interview with style.com, Wu offered about the Fall ’14 campaign that “Fall is all about a power woman, and I chose the Four Seasons because all the powerest of power lunches happen there,”. Adriana Lima’s intensity and powerful presence made her the natural choice for that shoot.
Shot by seminal fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Spring 2015 features Kloss draped across countertops surrounded by picnic-esque blue-checkered napkins and overflowing lobster-rolls. The dresses dazzle; glitzy red and smooth beige pick up subtleties of the seafood inspired setting. Wu of course makes his usual cameo, looking decidedly un-interested as Kloss, clutching his lapel, pierces the lens with her razor sharp gaze. Their chemistry is no accident, however. The 22-year-old Victoria’s Secret angel and the 32-year-old design magnate have been close friends for years. “Karlie and I have watched each other grow and develop,” Wu said in an interview with style.com.
Wu and the cast/crew enjoy a meal at each culinary palace visited, this final season’s fare: lobster rolls and clam chowder. We’re sure everything was as delicious as it looked.
