Gucci Introduces its New DIY (Do it Yourself) Handbag
Every Gucci lover from New York is going crazy over the fascinating Do it Yourself bag that was launched in Milan May 25, 2016. This new service is dedicated to the punk culture, enabling customers to express themselves through their own designs. Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, is staying true to his philosophy that everyone should feel authentic and free of their own expression. While celebrating the company’s 40th anniversary, it’s the perfect time to be inspired and unveil this exciting service.
Gucci DIY lets you customize your own Dionysus bag with numerous options. First, you get to choose the size of your bag – either small, medium, or large. Next, the customer has a choice of four leathers – crocodile, ostrich, python, and “moon” leather. With 18 shades available and several finishes, each person will get the base of their bag exactly the way they want. An option for a shoulder strap or not is also offered.
Afterwards comes the fun part. You get to decorate your bag with beautiful embroideries, patches, trims, hardware, and monograms. With a variety of colors, motifs, and even Swarovski crystals available, the selection for creativity is endless. The addition of your initials will only seal the deal on your one-of-a-kind bag.
The combination of materials and decorations to make a handbag is not only aesthetic, but distinctive to both the designer and creative director. By customizing Gucci bags, the DIY service is allowing consumers to evoke their own personal statement as well as promote the spirit of Michele’s vision. It is a very innovative way to get the market involved and co-design with their favorite designer themselves. Bravo tutti!
