DOLCE & GABBANA PAY TRIBUTE TO A GRECO-ROMAN DREAM

With so many designers changing up the color palette for Spring 2014, Dolce & Gabbana stuck to what they do best--creating beautiful awe-inspiring pieces, while showcasing romantic Greco-Roman charm.
This is Dolce & Gabbana’s 5th season paying tribute to its Sicilian heritage; the collection showcased the archeological ruins of the ancient Roman Empire with gold embellishments on clothing and accessories. The pieces embodied classic and modern silhouettes: playful tunics, body-conscious knee-length dresses, and A-line and pencil skirts, emblematic of the 1960s à la Sophia Loren.
The runway was adorned with gold, fur, oversized belts, and seductive bra tops in the signature D&G black lace. Alongside the strong metallic goddess pieces came three-dimensional blossom-covered feminine dresses in almond, mint, and other fresh tints of spring:
In the words of Stefano Gabanna, “It’s a dream of Sicily, like, you go on holiday to Syracuse or Taormina, and you see the Greek theater, then you come home and dream about it.”
As the Grecian goddesses exited the runway, it was clear Dolce & Gabbana's Spring collection would supply women with sophisticated, vintage-inspired options for their next vacation or even just for strutting down Fifth Avenue.
Either way, we were in awe down to our Achilles heels'.
