DIOR HOMME's KRIS VAN ASSCHE Hosts a Cocktail Event and Private Dinner to Fete The Autumn 2014 Collection

In all of our chaotic and overdressed weeks, why does it seem that Thursdays always magnetize the pit of craziness? Whether it’s exclusive parties, nights out in Chelsea, or unfortunately extensive lists of forgettable errands, what we thought was the end of our never-ending weeks had only just begun. However, there was no complaining after word of DIOR HOMME’s KRIS VAN ASSCHE AUTUMN 2014 line and installation commemoration happening in SoHo.
Thursday, April 24 echoed an elegant evening quite suitable for all Thursday nights: refined, luxurious, and tasteful. DIOR HOMME opened its doors to unveil the first official store in the USA to carry its Autumn 2014 collection. Introducing the line with an exclusive collaboration with art duo M/M (PARIS), the event called for some of fashion’s elitist. Not only were you submerged in a world of modernism, high-end fashion, and an air of importance, but also you were side by side with some of fashion’s biggest icons lavishing in the DIOR HOMME's innovation.
The event was not only a celebration of fashion; it was a statement of art. One of the boutique’s largest and most successful assets is creative director KRIS VAN ASSCHE’s crossover collaboration with power duo M/M. As a viewer, DIOR HOMME x M/M’s piercingly stark tower-like cylinders and angular concepts successfully relay the line’s artistic influence and empowers the Autumn 2014 line as more than just a pre-delivery of assumed “main collections.” The line is different – the line is an embodiment in itself.
The Autumn 2014 collection, though quite different, revisits DIOR HOMME’s traditional style of minimalism: very black, very white, and/or neutral color palettes. There were extraordinary prints, flattering cuts, and looks that seemed to be stripped right off the runway seen alongside each other.
Following the store’s successful commemoration of the AUTUMN 2014 LINE was a private dinner held at ACME, where notable fashion icons attended. SEAN AVERY, MICHAEL AMZALAG, and MATHIAS AUGUSTYNIAK were only a few of the many icon attendees.
