Karl Lagerfeld introduces Chanel’s beautiful Pre-Spring collection at the luxurious Ritz Paris.
Chanel and the Ritz Paris united in a Cosmopolitan Paris to celebrate the incomparable Métiers d'art and Parisian chic. The founder, Gabrielle Chanel, cherished her Métiers d'art collection and favored the Ritz Paris for its décor. From the lobby to the salon, the legendary palace hotel is frequented by the comings and goings of international clients at lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner.
Countless celebrities, many of whom were Chanel representatives, attended the presentation including Vanessa Paradis, Willow Smith, Gaspard Ulliel, Anna Mouglalis, Caroline de Maigret, G-Dragon, Alma Jodorowsky, Clotilde Hesme, as well as Géraldine Chaplin, Bella Heathcote, Rowan Blanchard, and Carole Bouquet. Notable Chanel ambassadors in attendance included Lily-Rose Depp, Ellie Bamber, Alice Dellal, Cara Delevingne, Sistine Stallone, and Georgia May Jagger, all wearing small veils or crowns of roses on their heads and brogues or patchwork suede thigh-high boots. Karl Lagerfeld said himself that it’s all about the roses this season.
This Parisian collection focuses on a silhouette with a defined waist and dramatic embroidery. As elegant as the women who dined at the Ritz, the evening dresses were embellished with golden thread, satin and velvet bows, embroidered crystal mesh, and ostrich feathers. An expansive color palette was comprised of hues ranging from black and white to cream, and navy blue to sparks of red and gold. A memorable gold sequined tuxedo perfectly paired with a navy satin leather jacket. Shining a light on knitwear, the collection also featured richly embroidered sweaters and a backless jacket intertwined with cashmere. But perhaps most notably, the collection showcased a more feminine version of the iconic Chanel jacket with the addition of pearls, roses, and flowers. The shoulders are open, accompanied by crystals, two fringed pockets, and leather details that imitate a belt around the waist. The jacket not only expresses femininity, but it exudes a new sense of modernity.
The Métiers d'art collection was shown on Tuesday December 6th, 2016, but you can still follow all the looks and images with #ParisCosmopolite and #ChanelMetiersdArt.
