The runway is a facade for designers to stage their vision, the strictly choreographed back-and-forth of models shinning a never-ending flow of clothes.
Berenik Opens Soho Boutique & Talenthouse with Dance

Last week, genderless Swiss fashion label Berenik celebrated the opening of its New York City boutique and Talenthouse at 419 Broome St. If you weren’t invited to the ceremony, you may have been lucky enough to be passed by the charade of over 70 Berenik-clad performance artists as they danced their way through Soho. Acclaimed Dutch choreographer Pascal Rekoert led the direction of the performance.
The dancers guided invited guests as well as passerby to the boutique where their performance continued for over an hour. The space offers a unique concept to customers as well as fashion, art, and design professionals. Aside from housing Berenik’s sleek, androgynous line of relaxed, athletic attire, the boutique will also provide retail space for other Swiss and American designers. Seven ready-to-wear and accessories designers currently partake in the shared retail concept, but the roster is expected to expand in the fall. The assortment will remain true to Berenik Creative Director Veronika Brusa’s minimal style and graphic design influence. The exciting ceremony and concept continues to represent her interdisciplinary background, blurring of artistic lines, and inclusion of art forms.
The basement of the 9,000 square foot expanse includes work stations available for rent by the likes of artists and designers. The space boasts magnificently high ceilings and an industrial but elegant atmosphere. Customers are drawn into the serene space by a mildly black facade, desaturated hardwood floors, and a calming matte interior.
For those who didn’t catch the performance, be sure to stop by Berenik’s new concept store where the Fall 2017 collection will arrive on September 17.
