Here we welcome Alexander McQueens AW 2021: a serene focus on silhouettes. A complete juxtaposition of femininity and masculinity; with corsets, florals, and embellished torsos paired with looks of oversized blazers, shoulder pads galore, and deep grey suiting combined with cinched in waists to create one of the most sexy collections this season. Talking of shoulder pads ( and I can’t help but to keep talking about them as they bring me so much happiness) Let our shoulders and arms scream with utter joy. This collection uses every eye catching shape and cut they could desire; attention-drawing and oversized, billowing kimono styles or overzealous ruffles in greens hugging those shoulders delicately. One of my favourites is the bold on the top, cinched in at the waist style used throughout the collection ; which I could only imagine parading about the windy streets of the city oozing power and elegance. The robust and beautiful black hooded parka dress with exploded sleeves. Literally. Or the hybrid jacket with sleeves the size of the earth and colour to match in deep green with a denim wash corseted body and a floating gathered skirt. You can also find your subtly classic elegance come through with the girly pink washed polytafeta which becomes best friends with backless and a deep v neck to add that sexy accent. Another theme which I was so enthralled to set my eyes on as should everyone is the suiting, oversized and yet ,with details like belting, still form-fitting. To me the sexiest look of all using hints of raw edgy ness and masculinity. Look at the single breasted sleek camel coat paired with McQueen signature graffiti and raw details like slashed ankles. Or the cropped double-breasted tuxedo suit in black silk and high-waisted trousers. This quickly draws a sudden change form the exuberant trapeze lines and ruffled exploding sleeves to a simplistic cut. A sudden yet welcomed interlude. The accessories are not to be overpowered here; with the curved bag coming in chrome and pink leather. The jewelled satchel in both black and red; both equally eye-catching. With knee-high boots and sandals with Web straps; strong and bold. With the classic and elegant floral necklaces with dove pendants. It’s clearly seen the theme runs all the way through to the accessories. One can delve into every aspect of their personality in one collection. Oversized, cropped, form-fitting, floaty, ruffled, pink, and embellished or simple and structural. Literally every silhouette, McQueen definitely doesn’t discriminate. Showing love to all so everyone can find something they love, and trust me I didn’t find something I found everything.
