2014 GUGGENHEIM INTERNATIONAL GALA PRE-PARTY MADE POSSIBLE BY DIOR

On November 5th, the 2014 Guggenheim International Gala’s pre-party honored famed artists Heniz Mack, Wang Jianwei, Günther Uecker, Carrie Mae Weems, and the late Otto Piene. Hosted by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s Young Collectors Council and made possible by Dior, the gala specially installed Piene’s piece “White Balloon” in honor of the artist’s recent passing. The five meter orb projected images from Piene’s 1966-67 series “Proliferation of the Sun” while hovering over the coliseum-shaped room where musical guests The xx performed.
The British indie pop band performed for an audience of prominent actors, musicians, designers, models, and more. All the attendees were adorned in Dior and Dior Homme including Marion Cotillard, Karlie Kloss, A$AP Rocky, Indre Rockefeller, Brad Goreski, and Camilla Belle. Held annually in New York City, the Guggenheim International Gala is the museum’s premiere fundraising event.
