THE STREETERS #77

August– the last month of summer when New Yorkers escape the heat and relax at their Hamptons beach houses or Ibiza/Mykonos retreats. While the city may feel less crowded and more deserted this time of year, the stylish few who do stay on Manhattan ground still manage to go about their days in trendy clothes and sleek accessories. With New York Fashion Week a few weeks away, these city dwellers are more than ready to end summer on a high note and embrace the new season.

You may notice a rising number of models roaming the streets of New York in anticipation of fashion week casting calls and “go-sees.” We spotted a few in black skinny jeans and leather jackets– the quintessential model off-duty look. Denim is of course another model favorite, with a few opting for the jacket and skirt variety. Footwear ranged from strappy sandals, classic converse and moto-booties.

Despite the higher temperatures, many New Yorkers stick with the cant-go-wrong all-black ensemble, whether it's a strapless, flare-sleeved top and jeans or a wide-legged, breezy jumpsuit. Flowy maxis rendered in breathable fabrics are yet another staple of the season, but we’re seeing a lot of bare legs as well, with shift dresses, shorts, and rompers all making the cut. Statement belts, graphic tees, lightweight cardigans, and structured bags all finish off the look. The versatility demonstrated by these pieces highlight this season's penchant for transitional layering, practicality and affinity for the classics.
