THE STREETERS #66 NYFW F/W 2016
As New York City flirts with spring, the latest trends in fashion match winter’s recalcitrance, and international digital fashion superstars, designers, and bloggers alike found their styles adopting the characteristics of the weather during NYFW.
Chiara Ferragni, an Italian fashion designer and founder of TheBlondeSalad.com, drew attention with a Vetements black oversize hoodie and Lisa skirt in croc, with over-the-knee boots from her own fashion line. Accenting the look are rouge lips, bringing out a kiss of brown hair, hidden underneath her hood. Ferragni’s low-key look still manages to unapologetically be conspicuous, cementing Ferragni’s simple, original fashion sense.
As unconventional street styles are always a pleasure to admire, adding flair and personal touch to business casual is just as pleasurable. Fashion and interior design blogger, Aimee Song, went in that direction with a pinstriped jacket and pants from Polo by Ralph Lauren (silk scarf, too), Balenciaga heeled boots, Louis Vuitton clutch, and a faux fur coat that, according to her, made her “look like a polar bear!” One can’t ignore Song’s instinct for balance in this outfit: she expertly contrasts the hard lines of the dark pants and jacket with the softness of the fur coat. Style icon and editor Leaf Greener also went a similar route, wearing a white, floor-length coat with light brown lining, a white turtle-neck, trousers, and cool shoes.
NYFW doesn’t hold back and it allows everyone to break out chic, creative outfits. Styles ranged from red plaid scarves meshing with light brown jackets and boots, to a denim and fur clad duo, and to Korean Model Irene Kim, who blended two shades of pink—a long, light pink coat, a top, and pants which were a touch darker—highlight only a sliver of what to expect in the upcoming season.
