No make-up company has a more storied history firmly ensconced in New York showbiz.
NICOLA FORMICHETTI TUMBLR MEETUP HIGHLIGHTS
“My job feels more like a hobby than a job, really; it’s always fun,” says Nicola Formichetti for TWELV’s second issue. “I always try to do as much as possible to keep inspired and learn about new things. What’s important is to keep taking risks and trying new things, giving opportunities to new talents-this is what is really important.” Formichetti’s statement reaffirms his beliefs on taking risks, for example, when he astounded the fashion community and left his role as designer of Mugler to become Diesel’s artistic director.
Renzo Rosso, President of OTB, an eminent enterprise of fashion brands includes Viktor & Rolf, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni, Diesel & Staff was quoted as saying said he would like to see Formichetti expand Diesel into "high fashion and couture to streetwear and activewear." Undeniably Formichetti’s edgy and creative vision is well suited for the role to reboot Diesel.
The digital world we live in is based on social networking, blogging, Twitter, Tumblr, and other platforms. Therefore it was no surprise when Formichetti started his new new role with Diesel he chose to celebrate at the Tumblr Meetup at Tribeca Grand on May 1. It was an impressive turnout for the artistic director, with style icon Michelle Harper, Omahyra Mota Garcia, Jenny Shimizu, and Courtney Shallcross also in attendance. Stayed tuned for Formichetti’s revolution to re-build Diesel.
