"REALLY, REALLY, RIDICULOUSLY GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE"
Name: Jordan Henriquez
Occupation:Professional Basketball Player, 7 feet tall!
JORDAN HENRIQUEZ'S INTEVIEW
Where are you from?
Long Island / Queens.
What keeps you in New York?
I come back here during my off-seasons.
What position are you?
Center
Which player do you admire the most?
I’d still say Kobe Bryant.
When did you start playing basketball?
At twelve years-old. My mom wanted me to become a swimmer. I tried it—couldn’t get the hang of it. Then tried baseball— too uncoordinated. Basketball was the next option. Now I am playing for the Rayos de Hermosillo, as of last month.
What are some of your proudest accomplishments?
I would say graduating from college (Kansas state University). I am one of the all-time winning guys coming out of the Kansas State program and I went undrafted but signed with the Houston Rockets. Making it to the NBA was a definite career highlight. Just being able to travel to different parts of the world while doing my job is what I love.
What is it like to transition to an international team?
It’s different. Depending on how many Americans are there with you, I think you get a chance to adapt to different cultures, different languages and different food, no matter how good or bad it is. When I was in Saudi Arabia for a month, my time was there was mind boggling. You have to stop practice for prayer time. I had never experienced anything like it, and this was four years into my professional career. Some of the other places I’ve played in are Argentina, Vietnam Japan, Uruguay, Mexico and Germany.
How was it to play in the Olympics?
I’m Panamanian, so Sophomore year in college I had the chance to play for my nation.
I hadn’t been back to Panama since I was a kid so it was fun to see my family. Due to passport issues, it hurts that I can’t represent my country anymore.
Where do you see yourself moving forward?
I’ll play for a couple more years then start my next move in a different field but still sports related.
Do you have a relationship to fashion?
I like fashion a lot. There are not many advantages with my size so I’m very detailed with what I like to wear depending on the brands that fit me. My favorite brand is Louis Vuitton but I just started getting into Off-White.
What do you do when you’re not training or playing?
I just chill, play 2K or Fortnite.
Who’s ur avatar in 2K?
Jordan Roberts. Point guard 6’7
What is one thing that would surprise our readers ?
I love fashion. I love meeting all types of people, and I’m full of good energy and good vibes.
