No make-up company has a more storied history firmly ensconced in New York showbiz.
blog party: Hidden Treasures
Nayla , Noor and Rawdah Al Naimi are the three sisters behind the blogs Cocoa Butter, Celebrities Style and Unbreakable Diamond.
Spring is the perfect time to play and experiment with colors, textures, patterns, and layers. This year, the gym is not the only place to look chic in your sportswear. Pastel colors are relieved with a tendency of soft and sweet, with a peplum shape. Simple black and white evokes sophistication and discretion. Summer suits are made in a variety of colors for an attractive, feminine look. The retro flower print plays on the second level of an obsolete design, emblematic of the 1967 Summer of Love. The minimalist trend addresses the basic essential of the male wardrobe; the suit jacket is worn without sleeves or pockets, with a large notch and practically invisible seams for a perfect androgyny look. The button-up white shirt is worn as a total look: with a floral skirt, or with pants like a suit.
Young designers are creative; they are always looking for new ways to create a timeless piece or to invent an unforgettable collection that will last for decades. Some of our favorite pieces of the moment are:
The Otic Ear Cuff by Robert Anthony: this powerful, innovative and luxurious piece is hand assembled and manufactured from surgical grade stainless steel.
The Bat Skeleton Necklace from the Miyu Decay Sterling Silver line: created by Stephanie Inagaki, it has been recreated approximately to the actual size of a fruit bat by a combination of casting, and hand-forging silver wire. The tiny fingers, ribs and legs have been meticulously filed, hammered and soldered to replicate the bat’s delicate bones. This wee bat has seen better days but is still a feisty little bugger.
Amy Glenn’s A147G unisex T-shirts: each one possesses the dusty mystery of no color, and a genderless silhouette. The monochromatic palate encapsulates beauty in its muted tones of black and grays.
The Kittinhawk headpiece: we love the uniqueness of this piece, especially since this trait can be very hard to find these days. All of her pieces are handmade and one of a kind, often made from recycled materials.
Dimepiece: This label is a charming vision of acid punk-meets-society woman. It boasts feminist attributes, lending a bossy attitude.
We are always on the lookout for inspiration from a new concept, event or exhibit. The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk features haute couture pieces created by the world-renowned French designer. The exhibition itself is quite funky and artistic, and the installations show some of Gaultier’s most famous work. The exhibition highlights Gaultier’s eclectic and vibrant sources of inspiration through a selection of over 140 haute couture dresses and ready-to-wear pieces made between the early 1970s and 2011. The exhibit displays Madonna’s iconic corsets from her 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour, and costumes from her 2006 Confessions Tour.
We are very excited and anxious to see The Painting Factory Abstraction after Warhol. This upcoming exhibition explores the recent transformation of abstract painting into one of the most dynamic platforms in contemporary art. The exhibition will address a painting tradition that was once seen as essentially reductive but which has now become expansive, merging popular culture and current technology into its vocabulary. It will include works by Andy Warhol, Christopher Wool and other artists.
