New York's crazy weather can be a style challenge, even for the best of us. Freezing rain one minute, and sunshine the next. But style icon Nick Wooster would never let a little weather get in the way of his swag, which is why he is still the hautest guy in town. With the mercury deep in the blue zone, he set aside his characteristic tailored suit for a boiled wool sweater cinched at the waist with a giant pin. His brown tweed overcoat lined with shiny mink is the very embodiment of cold-weather chic. And those suede cargos tucked into combat boots? Positively rakish.
Project Runway judge and Marie Claire creative director Nina Garcia shows us why she's been perched atop the fashion food chain for more than 20 years. Her monochromatic winter wear is classic and refined without being stuffy. A mahogany leather mini and cashmere scarf are paired with a car coat in fox fur and killer high-heeled boots. As they say in Garcia's hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia, "muy chévere!"
What do you get when you pair red joggers with a faux fur, and accessorize with high-heeled loafers and bomber sunnies? Cold weather glam that takes you all the way from the Fashion Avenue to Love Street. Ok, so there's no Love Street in New York, although there is a Love Lane in Brooklyn Heights, but we digress. The Love Street we are talking about is where you find eclectic style that is au courant without being derivative, courageous without being costumey, and eye-catching when worn by a girl without being a case of the clothes wearing the girl. If you know what we mean, then we'll see you on Love Street.
