Classroom rebellion never looked so good as it does it Dsquared’s new F/W 2012 campaign.
Dior spring summer 2022 collection
This collection sees a reinvention of classic to the modern world reeling in this era of post pandemic life. It delves into curiosity, desire and Intrigue. This Women’s ready to wear collection sees Maria Grazia Chiuri take to Marc Bohans work as creative director as inspiration. Specifically she focused on the chic and infamous slim look collection which presented in 1961 changed fashion as a whole entity.
Chiuri used cuts and silhouettes modernised with graphic images and pops of colour: like the Aline dress in yellow and raspberry pink with almost graffiti esque design. This was her take on Bohans colour blocking. These colours also symbolise the spatial geometric shown in the heart of games which was created by artist Anna Paparatti; it questions the rules or art and life itself. One can see the similarity’s to Bohans collection in 1961 that questioned the rules of fashion itself.
The shows scenography conceived by Paparatti draws one into their childhood game memories; “il gioco del nonsense”. The infamous colour blocking literal and present. One almost wanted to step and join the models out of desire to join the fun and games before them. Jackets were reinvented with current Dior style of box cuts and refined coats.
Visually the clothes create intrigue and fascination as designs were enhanced in 3D with embroidery and texture. For example the use of nylon and scuba materials added volume and continued this theme of reinvention of the wearer themselves.
The show was held in the piper club a nightclub which is known for the times where art and fashion mingled without prejudice. Creativity layers the walls and soaks into your skin as you enter.
The show exuded fun, modernity and most of all reinvention and unity.
