Christian Siriano's "Dresses to Dream About" Celebrates a Decade of Work
Christian Siriano's decade of empowering women through his epononymous label launched in 2008 is now being celebrated in the designer's first coffee table book entitled Dresses to Dream About. But the over-200 stunning pages are more than merely an anthology of his work, rather they illustrate the creative process behind his countless runway and red carpet hits, as well as some dresses that are simply "just favorites" of the designer, "that maybe nobody has ever worn," as Siriano told Glamour. Photographed at work in his Manhattan studio by his husband Brad Walsh, Siriano narrates his design process from the first sketch to the finished product– one of his dream-like gowns, lauded for their elegance, exquisite detail, and structure.
To mark the ocassion, a book release party was held at the New York City flagship store of publisher Rizzoli, where Coco Rocha, Drew Barrymore, Natasha Lyonne, Gina Gershon, Christina Hendricks, and a host of other Siriano aficionados and friends celebrated with Belvedere and champagne against the backdrop of several gowns towering above the guests and bookshelves, alike.
The book's behind-the-scenes glimpse into the magic of Christian Siriano's work certainly excites us for the continuation of his budding legacy– a legacy of not only creating lavishly-embellished gowns, but also of his unrestricted perceptions of beauty, and his care in dressing women no matter their body shape nor size.
