Atelier Versace S/S2015 Couture Collection

Donatella Versace took this spring couture collection back to “the shape of a woman’s body, which is curvy.”
The show opened with Natasha Poly in a deconstructed and certainly “curvy” black suit with flared pants and an open shoulder. Two similar black ensembles followed Poly’s look and then the show made a shift to two white suits separated by a white dress with a dramatic neckline and daringly high thigh-high slit. The seventh look introduced a wave of bold primary reds and blues with curvy cutouts showing off flashes of skin. The show’s emphasis on shape and structure eventual transitioned into funky beaded outfits with over the top beaded knee-high boots. As the beading techniques were introduced, the silhouettes began to have more see-through “curvy” elements. There was an obvious play with the illusion netting as it was strategically placed to be quite revealing. The final gowns and jumpsuits were a combination of the previous looks but amped up with the signature Versace sex appeal and risqué shapes.
The emphasis on the body and a woman’s curviness was apparent and looks were dramatic in that very Versace kind of way.
