A.P.C. collaborates with M/M Paris, creates your new favorite T-shirt
M/M was most recently called upon to collaborate with A.P.C. to create a collection of T-shirts for Spring 2014, launching today. M/M Paris, comprised of Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag, is renowned for collaborating within the art and design worlds to produce unexpected designs through relationships with their commissioners. Since 1992 the duo has helped shape the integrated nature of the fashion, music and art worlds by forming partnerships with forces in each industry like Kanye West and Calvin Klein.
The series of women’s and men’s T-shirts diffuse a handful of concepts using M/M’s idiosyncratic designs generated from a thorough planning and design process resulting in stories that speak with layers of meaning. The “Mister-T” T-shirt boasts the notion of mirror images. M/M also produced an original typeface to display alternate interpretations of the A.P.C. acronym. “Jean” is spelled out using the shape of dogs, doubling as a character and A.P.C’s favorite pants. “Jean’s” counterpart, “Judith,” is the essence of urban American culture. While the collection is meant to be worn by the masses each esoteric message is only truly grasped by a small number.
The foundation of this collection is a conversation between the two brands that ultimately forms a wearable reflection of culture today. The laid back A.P.C. T-shirts combined with the thought provoking designs of M/M Paris creates a beautiful synergy that customers can incorporate into their everyday lives.
