October 26, 2013 12:48 PM

MODEL: MILENA MAJEWSKA

AGENCY: WILHELMINA MODELS

From Poland with love...

Where are you from and what is your name:

Milena Majewska aka Mila from Poland.

How were you scouted to model:

My parents sent my pictures to a local newspaper that held a competition for aspiring models. I got qualified and went to Germany where the competition took place. I was among 3 girls that won a contract. Right after that I got a professional training and walked my first fashion shows.

Which agencies are you associated with:

My mother agency is NEXT Milan, I am with NEXT in LA and Miami as well. In New York, I am represented by Wilhelmina.

What are the challenges you have experienced during your modeling career:

The biggest challenge was leaving my family and loved ones behind and to get a degree at university working at the same time.

What do you love about the industry:

Traveling and meeting amazing and talented people from all over the world. I enjoy each challenging and experience because you never know what's going to happen tomorrow :)

Favorite designer:

I like simplicity so currently it would be Phillip Lim. I love Vivienne Westwood for her endless creativity regardless of age.

What would you tell anyone who want to discover modeling…advice to break it in the industry:

I guess the advice I would give to every aspiring model would be very simple: stay true to your beliefs and values but get ready for the challenges it brings. There is nothing that is easy in this business as some people think. Be open-minded and most of all believe in yourself! Don't get discourage when you experience failures and keep on trying because your moment will come ;)

Who is your role model:

My parents.

Personal style:

It depends on the mood and weather but its either rock chic or romantic boho.

Currently coveting
:

What I really desire right now is a vacation!!!! I can't wait for my New Year's Eve trip to Brazil with my boyfriend. I also can't wait to go home for Christmas and to be with my family because it is the most magical moment of the year. Everything is covered with snow and we are cooking for couple of days with my mum and sisters, decorating the house and the christmas tree and also wrapping the gifts :)

Upcoming projects:

My first TV commercial in the US market is coming out within days.

Workout regimen:

I have to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of going to the gym. I do it from time to time, especially when I travel for my jobs. I have more spare time in the evenings, therefore instead of sitting in a hotel room, I would prefer to workout and it's usually around an hour with 15 minutes in the sauna. I love pilates reforming though. With my body structure I see results very fast and 2-3 times a week is enough to keep my body in shape. I love outdoor activities where I can do some sports with my friends, I grew up horseback riding and it's such a pity that I'm not continuing it in New York. The most important part of my daily routine is my healthy diet. I don't eat meat and I also limit carbohydrates and gluten in my diet. I eat a lot of fruit, vegetables and fish (especially in winter). I am obsessed with freshly squeezed juices and I try to have one every day. It gives me energy for the whole day and perfectly boosts my immune system.

How do you balance everything:

Sometimes I am unable to, but seeing my family and closest ones and visiting my country 3 times a year is always the best get away from my chaotic life and it's the best kind of rest I can think of.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years:

Still working in the business but rather from the other side. I'm very creative and modeling is not always letting all my creativity flow. My dream is to open this amazing boutique with selected young talented designers from all over the world, including my country (I'm already in touch with many of them because I would love to work with them in the future) . It would be a place where I would gladly shop myself because their aesthetic is cool, edgy but still affordable.

What is something you are unable to live without:

My family, friends, traveling, sun, laugh, good book, good food, beautiful architecture and definitely beautiful nature.

What is something everyone does not know about you:

This is a hard question because there are many things but maybe that I love singing ;) and that I'm nicer than I look...lol

MANY THANKS TO MILA MAJEWSKA
