NAME: BIRDGET HALLINAN

OCCUPATION: MODEL

AGENCY: WILHELMINA NEW YORK

Nothing compares to the feeling of the hustle and bustle of New York City. The traffic is unprecedented, the pedestrians are frenzied and gargantuan in numbers, and everyone always seems to be late. And yet, despite the chaos that permeates this great city, no other place makes me feel more alive.

As a model, I often find myself just as harried and rushed as the next New Yorker - cursing a cab that got away at the last minute, charging across a crosswalk while dodging traffic, and anxiously bursting through crowds to make it to call time...well, on time!

All of the rushing is worth it, however, because what waits for me at the end of the long journey is worth the struggle. I had one of the best shoots of my career last weekend, and it goes to show me that with every step I take in this city (whether running to a job or sight-seeing) I am growing, and my career is as well.

I love getting my makeup done and evolving into a whole different person. I love walking the city streets with thousands of other people, knowing that we are all anonymous, but also all trying to make our dreams come true in this busy city. I love the feeling of power that comes with every shoot and casting I attend, and also the humility I feel as I realize I still have so much more to learn, not only from the industry, but the city as well.

With everything I've experienced so far, both the good and the bad, I keeping taking in more information and learning more about not only the modeling industry, but about life itself too. I take in everything New York City has to offer, from the harried citizens to the one of a kind fashion styles it exhibit, and I can't wait to experience even more.

Here's to the city that never sleeps, and to all the dreams it inspires as well.
