ALMOST FAMOUS #12: BVLGARI 130TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT

August 11, 2014 4:06 PM

Whoever said, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend” must have been wearing Bvlgari. The renowned Italian luxury goods and jewelry company just celebrated its 130th anniversary.  I had the pleasure of celebrating this milestone with not only my colleagues but also with the wonderful executives of Bvlgari, at the Fifth Avenue location. Before I even stepped foot in the store, I was immediately greeted by the Customer Relations Executive Advisor, Aleksander Janik, who then welcomed us to the party. Immediately, I am stunned by my surroundings of the polished two-story space, live musicians, chefs offering food, and of course, the showcases filled with the jewels. After conversing with the guests and indulging in the delicious food served, I was given the honor to try on some incredible jewelry. The first piece that I sampled was a necklace from the Diva collection, sporting 18 pink gold with colored gems including, rubellites, peridots, and amethysts, and pavé diamonds. This was paired with a matching gold watch in the signature “serpenti” shape. Bvlgari has been using their signature snake like design since the 1940’s and has become affiliated with brand. The next and final pieces I tried on literally took my breath away. As the necklace and bracelet were placed on me, I could feel the weight of the impressive white gold, 74 carat pavé diamond serpenti necklace and matching bracelet. I felt like a true movie star with people stopping on the streets and peaking through the windows taking pictures along with photographers inside. When I think of Bvlgari, I also think of the prestigious icons that have worn the pieces, ranging from royalty to movie stars on the red carpet. Now I too, have had the pleasure of wearing some stunning pieces. In my opinion, jewelry is timeless and always remains elegantly classic throughout the years.  The glamor and exquisiteness of Bvlgari exemplifies the success of the company, and why it has been established for over a century. This night was an experience I will never truly never forget.

FASHION MERCHANDISING STUDENT

Fashion is more than just a passion of mine; I believe it is a lifestyle. As a fashion student attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, I learn about the industry not only in class but also through experiences off campus. I am chasing my dreams just as I chase the next 1 Train or a taxi going off to my next adventure. Being able to attend numerous events around the city is slowing making me feel like I am becoming the New Yorker I have always wanted to be. Hopefully, I can experience the industry not only in this city but around the world as well in the future. I long for the days I will be able to pack (in my case, over pack) my luggage bags and grab a Saint Laurent carryall tote with a ticket and coffee in hand as I head to wherever my destination may be. The vibrant energy of this city only fuels my passion even more. I feel beyond blessed to be creating a life I have dreamed of since I was a little girl, amongst a city full of dreamers as well.
